This is a QuickWire socket, meaning in the back will be wire port holes. Simply strip the wire back 1/2" and push in the wire to the correct port hole. Once in, it will not come back out.
This wires in addition to the socket and/or ballast and will turn the unit off once it reaches a temperate higher than what the thermal regulator is rated for. Thus preventing the application from letting the bulb overheat
Yes it will work for any G4, GU4, GZ4, G5.3, GX5.3, GY5.3, GU5.3, G6.35, GY6.35
No, to hold hte bulb you need a clip specific for your light bulb, but you can mount a bulb clip to the socket.
You strip the wire back 1/2" and the wire pushes into the 2 port holes on the back and once in you cannot remove, this is called QuickWire
To test you would need to have an ambient thermometer and over heat the area of the thermal protector to be higher than what the unit is rated for. Then it would shut the application off until it was below that temperature.
It should not be hot, it may be warm.
